2011 Activity Winners!
Congratulations to our three Activity Winners! These three submissions received praise from our PIE Committee. Download the activities to use in your classroom!
Metal in Money - submitted by Drew Beahm of Lapel Elementary This activity demonstrates that minerals are in things we use everyday, like money! This would be a good substitute for the "Cereal Mining" activity.
Mining in a Peapod - submitted by Carmen Whaley of Lapel Elementary This activity was submitted as a substitute for the "Mining in a Nutshell" activity, replacing peanuts with soy beans to eliminate the peanut allergy issue.
Rock Around the Clock - submitted by Jackie Gibson of Corydon Elementary This activity is designed to develop time-telling skills, alphabetization and rock/mineral identification.
