In Memoriam: Jerry Irving
Jerry (Lee) Irving, 71, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away on April 1, 2024, at MD Anderson medical center in Houston, Texas.
Jerry worked from early childhood to retirement at Irving Gravel Company. And when he wasn’t working, you could find him golfing, fishing, hunting, and enjoying his winter home in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, with his wife, Marla. He enjoyed spending time with friends, laughing, and drinking an ice cold Modelo after a nice round of golf. Jerry’s laughter was contagious, and he was actively involved in various organizations, including serving as the past President of the IMAA. Jerry was a proud Shriner, being a part of ROJ-2010, Southgate Lodge-2010, and Scottish Rite 2010, as well as the Directors Business Development Group.
Jerry is survived by his wife Marla Irving, daughter Ashley Irving, brother Tom (Linda) Irving, nephew Brett (Maria) Irving, niece Amy (Ken) Hunt, niece Nichole Knauer, and sister Lynn (Doug) Knauer. Jerry was preceded in death by his son Ryan Irving, father James Irving, mother Margaret Irving, and nephew Blane Irving.
Jerry graduated from R. Nelson Snyder High School (1970) and went on to attend Lakeland College (1972).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Mizpah Shrine Transportation Fund at 1015 Memorial Way Fort Wayne, IN 46805, to help transport children and parents to Chicago Shriners Hospitals for Children.
A celebration of life was held in Fort Wayne, Indiana, at the end of June, officiated by The Honorable Holly A. Brady.
