Association Update – August 2020

Calvin Lee | 08/27/20

IMAA Executive Director Calvin Lee comments on the current state of the association and an outlook for the rest of 2020.

Dear IMAA Members,

I hope this note finds you, your team as well as your family healthy and well! Here at the association we are doing all possible to keep our team safe and healthy as we continue to work remotely. As with you, we dearly miss the in person face to face interactions with the members, but I am confident that we will resume that at the appropriate time. Currently member engagement continues via Zoom for board and committee meetings. We have even conducted a few very successful programs using this platform.

As we press forward and react to the situation before us we are very focused on our PIE Committee golf outing scheduled for September 16, 2020 as well as our Winter Workshops scheduled for January 2021.

By now you should have received an invite to participate in the golf outing. After careful consideration we decided to move forward with this event. We have utilized many resources to identify the proper safe guards and protocols to make the outing enjoyable but safe. I would encourage you to participate if it is feasible.

Regarding Winter Workshops, we are still in the assessment phase of planning for this event. Thank you to all who completed the survey that we sent out. The survey results will help us gauge the members’ desire, ability as well as their individual comfort levels as it relates to attending an in person event in January. We have reviewed the results so far and recognize that conducting the survey so early in the planning process as well as the uncertainty of the developments of the virus between now and January makes it difficult to make a determination now. We understand that but are affected by cancellation dates in our contract with the JW Marriott. In any case we heard you loud and clearly and we’ll utilize all of the information before us to make the best determination possible. Thank you for your participation and patience

Regarding business and forecasting we continue to monitor developments at the state and federal levels to provide information to the membership as we receive it. We recently had the opportunity to hear directly from INDOT Deputy Commissioner Roland Fagan regarding the outlook of the INDOT construction program. The outlook appears positive at the moment.

As mentioned before it continues to be the goal of the IMAA staff to be of assistance to you during these time. Please feel free to reach out with any thoughts or questions.

Please be safe!
