Board of Directors Orientation and Meeting Provides Guidance
Over recent years, as some of our well-seasoned industry leaders have either moved on or served their time on the IMAA Board of Directors, we felt it to be constructive to take a moment and work with our current board members. We wanted to ensure that we have the proper guidance and direction needed to successfully lead the IMAA from the top. To that end, we recently put together a program that we refer to as “Board Orientation.” The program does a great job of laying out the duties of board members and creates a clear distinction of the roles and responsibilities of IMAA staff in concert with the board. We also took it a step further, and included IMAA Committee Chairs in the process, providing guidance and expectations to them as well.
This represents our second year of the program, and it has proven quite helpful and beneficial to us all. It was also refreshing to take the program offsite and have the benefit of an Association Management Facilitator lead us through it. The program lasted one full day, with networking activities to close out the day.
