Community Connection Awarded to Hanson Aggregates Ardmore Quarry
Hanson Aggregates’ Kensington Kissel accepts the 2019 Community Connection Award for Ardmore Quarry.
The Community Connection Award is given to the IMAA Plant that most clearly demonstrates efforts above and beyond the regular requirements of the Excellence in Mining Awards. The Community Connection Award recognizes service and involvement in the community and the contributions of many employees in donating their time and serving their community.
The employees of this location participate in numerous volunteer activities throughout the year, including the Clean Up Fort Wayne event, the United Way’s Day of Caring, Junior Achievement’s elementary school career days, and Boy Scout Merit badge training. They contribute money and materials to Eagle Scout projects, and other community projects. They even fill their neighbors’ swimming pools with their water truck!
The quarry works closely with local Emergency Response Departments by providing vacant housing structures for firefighter training, and abandoned areas of the quarry for bomb detonation practice.
During the summer months and school year, local daycares and schools participate in a fossil dig and observation deck informational overview led by quarry employees.
The quarry is currently working on a beautification project of a vacant property that the company purchased a few years ago. The property included a sentimentally significant building, and the quarry is now devoting time and efforts to arrange a memorial tribute to the High School that was vacant and its alumni as part of the beautification project.
It is with pride that IMAA presents the 2019 Community Connection Award to Lehigh Hanson’s Ardmore Quarry.
We congratulate them on their willingness and efforts to be a substantial part of their community.
