Notice of Draft General NPDES Permit ING49000 From IDEM

IMAA Environmental Committee Chair Brian Peters would like to notify the membership of the draft renewal of the Indiana General NPDES Permit ING490000 for Wastewater Discharges from Sand, Gravel, Dimension Stone and Crushed Stone Operations.

There are several changes to the draft permit, and IDEM has opened a public comment period expiring on September 11, 2020.

IMAA would like to thank Associate member Civil & Environmental Consultants, both Simon Davies and Ryan Slack, for their help in identifying and summarizing the key changes from IDEM.

Simon Davies has provided a summary of the changes for the membership, as well as highlighting notable areas in the Draft General Permit from IDEM. IMAA has also posted the original letter from Catherine Hess at IDEM requesting review. You can find both of these documents online at www.indmaa.org/NPDES-2020-Public-Comment.

Public comments must be submitted to IDEM no later than September 11, 2020. These comments can be submitted via email to owqwwper@idem.in.gov. Otherwise all comments or requests should be sent to: IDEM Office of Water Quality, Attn: Permits Administration Section, IGCN Room 1255, 100 North Senate Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana 46204-2251.   A public hearing on the permit may be requested.  For more information on requesting a public hearing, please visit IDEM’s Public Notice webpage: https://www.in.gov/idem/6777.htm.  The department will determine whether to hold a public hearing based upon the comments and the rationale for the request. All written comments received during the Public Notice period will be considered in the formulation of the final NPDES general permit.

If you make comments to IDEM, please notify IMAA Executive Director, Calvin Lee (calvin@indmaa.org or 317-503-5747) and forward a copy of your comments to him.
