IMAA Kicks off Class of 2022 Excellence in Leadership Program
On Friday April 29th, IMAA kicked off the second cohort of the Excellence in Leadership Program. The ELP is a leadership development training program designed by IMAA members for IMAA members. The WLMA Committee and Professional Development Committee partnered to produce a course to equip emerging leaders with skills, knowledge, confidence and connections to lead their teams and organizations now and in the future.
The Class of 2022 has 22 participants that come from a diverse cross-section of the IMAA membership. Over the course of a year, the students will focus on 3 key areas of development: technical knowledge, strategic insight, and leadership skills. They will also work together in teams to develop solutions to common industry problems that they will identify, research and ultimately present to the IMAA Board before their graduation from the program.
During the first session, students heard from Gena Carney from IU Health on Empathy in Leadership and Mikel Bowman of Bowman Legacies on Safety Culture and Leading from the Middle. The program facilitator, Dr. Carolyn Goerner from the IU Kelly School of Business, led exercises on communication and managing multiple strengths and personality types.
