Industry Icon Announces Retirement
For more than 30 years, Vicki Kitchin has shaped the Indiana highway, heavy and utility industry’s educational, coalition-building and governmental affairs efforts in a variety of positions, culminating as executive director of Build Indiana Council. Leading the industry’s efforts to secure long-term, dedicated, stable and adequate road funding for the benefit of all Hoosiers, Kitchin was at the forefront of both the Major Moves initiative in 2005 and 2017’s HB 1002 and every road funding initiative in between. On the federal level, Kitchin has been a fierce defender of maintaining, if not increasing, Indiana’s share of federal tax dollars returning to the state to fund projects. Kitchin has announced her retirement effective at the end of this year. BIC and ICI leaders have formed a search committee to find her replacement.
