2. Tentative schedule
Wednesday, May 13, 2020
2:30-5:00 p.m. TCC Legislative Briefing at Grand Hyatt Hotel
6:00 p.m. BIC Indiana Dinner, location to be determined
Thursday, May 14, 2020
8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Meetings with Indiana’s congressional delegation. BIC will set up these appointments in advance. (Please do not make your own appointments as they will be duplicative.)
3. Make your flight arrangements
Be sure to arrive in time for the BIC Indiana Dinner beginning at 6 PM on Wednesday, May 13. Plan your departure early evening on Thursday, May 14. While we’ll make appointments as early as possible, we may need to schedule a few for the afternoon. We strongly encourage you to plan on a full day of meetings in Washington on Thursday.
4. Register with BIC
There is no fee to register with BIC, but please send an email to vkitchin@buildindianacouncil.org indicating whether you plan to attend.
5. Register with TCC
TCC Registration is open at https://www.transportationconstructioncoalition.org/tcc-fly-in/. Cost is $175. This will allow you to attend their briefing on Wednesday afternoon from 2:30-5:00 p.m. While it is not a requirement to attend this portion of the fly-in, the May 13 briefing conducted by the national Transportation Construction Coalition (TCC) provides a solid Washington D.C. perspective on highway funding issues and sets us up perfectly for our Indiana-specific discussion later that evening.
6. Contact Vicki Kitchin if you have any questions M (317) 439-2108
Why You Should Attend
The existing federal highway law – “Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act,” or FAST ACT, expires on September 30, 2020. The U.S. Senate is working on advancing a five-year bill, while U.S. House committee leaders have unveiled their priorities. As the conversations and negotiations heat up, it’s critical that we inform our delegation about Indiana’s priorities related to highway investment. This fly-in on May 13-14, 2020 is well-timed for us to provide that input.
